Present At Prestigious Rehabilitation Engineering Conference!

Pontimax Technologies, in partnership with the Eugene Research Institute,
Eugene OR, made an invited presentation today at the Rehabilitation
Engineering Research Center For the Advancement of Cognitive Technologies’s
(RERC-ACT), 2007 State of the Science Conference, in
The presentation, titled, “ADL Assistant: An Aware Remote Caregiving System
“described the ongoing research and field deployment of a system that allows a professional or family caregiver to exercise effective oversight of a developmentally disabled individual who is living in their own residence. Using a network of unobtrusive, inexpensive wireless motion sensors to detect motion within the consumer’s residence, the system makes use of Pontimax’s Inferencing Agent to recognize the occurrence of essential Activities of Daily Living (ADL) such as showering and getting up to go to work. It also provides wellness oversight through its ability to detect when the consumer has been motionless for an excessive time and transmits an immediate cellular text message to the caregiver. Other safety type event recognition, with immediate alerting, includes “anti-wandering” and multiple occupancy during inappropriate hours.
Ray Keating, Managing Member of Pontimax Technologies, conducted the overview of the Inferencing Agent with a special emphasis on its use of caregiver experience and support of caregiver needs in providing the recognition of the ADL of interest and addressing their safety alert concerns.
The presentation was given an excellent reception by an audience that included representatives from the National Science Foundation, senior experts and practitioners in the assistive technology and services delivery fields.
